Fried Tofu Crumbles & Cooked Tofu Cubes

Fried Tofu Crumbles

(fried tofu crumbles should be used for vegetable soups)

Ingredients

24 ounces firm tofu

3 tablespoons canola oil

 

Directions

  1. Cook tofu in microwave at high level for 4 minutes uncovered on a plat. Set aside in a colander to cool and drain.
  2. Once cool enough to handle, use your hands to break the tofu into small pieces (about ½ inch or smaller).
  3. Heat 3 tablespoons of canola oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu crumbles and stir-fry until golden, using a spatula or similar tool to break the tofu into smaller pieces about ¼ inch or smaller. (Note that if the tofu is not dry enough, the water within the tofu may cause the oil to pop/spatter during frying.)
  4. Remove the tofu crumbles and set aside on paper towel-lined plate/bowl/colander to drain excess oil.

Cooked Tofu Cubes

(to use less oil, fried tofu crumbles above can be replaced by cooked tofu cubes in any soup)

 

Ingredients

24 ounces firm tofu

Directions

  1. Cook tofu in microwave at high level for 4 minutes and set aside to cool and dry.
  2. Cut tofu into bite-sized pieces.
